March 11 – Sedona City Council Meeting: STRs on the Agenda
The Sedona City Council is voting this Tuesday, March 11, on an amendment that would ban short-term rentals (STRs) in Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) unless the owner lives in the main home.
📌 The Concern: This proposal (Item G) would apply to all ADUs, even though state law (HB 2720) only permits this restriction for ADUs built after January 1, 2025. While the law took effect in May 2024, Sedona delayed implementation until January 1, 2025—but the City’s proposed language oversteps legal boundaries and could unfairly impact property owners who have been renting their ADUs for years.
